Apple has filed a second complaint with the USA’s ITC against HTC claiming patent infringements by the Taiwan based smartphone manufacturer. The move comes shortly after preliminary investigations into Apple’s first complaint looked as if they would be dismissed.
A judge is scheduled to issue a decision on the ongoing patent dispute next month, and the decision to file a second complaint is seen as a move by Appleto shore up its chances of securing a settlement with HTC.
Just last week, HTC said that it was paying US$300 million to buy a video-game graphics developer – primarily to gain access to its portfolio of patents as a defensive move in the ongoing tit-for-tat patent wars between handset manufacturers.
