Details of 5.3-inch smartphone/tablet hybrid emerge
Is it a smartphone? Is it a tablet? No one is quite sure about the Samsung Galaxy Q.
The device has been detailed over at Yahoo Korea. According to TechRadar, the Q is said to be a 5.3-inch device (not unlike the Dell Streak), described as a ‘tabphone’ with 3G support. Whether it makes voice calls or is just a tablet isn’t clear, but we suspect the former, making it more of a large smartphone than a mini tablet. If you want to sell in numbers, it makes sense to pack in the functionality.
Although that would make it a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S II, pictured here, with the new device offering a screen just an inch larger than Samsung’s current flagship phone. We’ll probably be able to make more of an educated guess when more of the specification emerges or indeed, a blurry spy shot.
We shouldn’t have long to wait though. The Samsung Galaxy Q is said to be launching at the IFA trade event in Berlin, which is just 45 days off. More details will almost certainly appear online before then.
