Nokia announced the addition of Trip Advisor – an online travel community – to its online mapping service, Ovi Maps. In addition to existing content from Lonely Planet, Qype, Michelin and Time Out, Trip Advisor adds hotel, flight and restaurant recommendations to the car and pedestrian navigation features provided by Ovi Maps. This includes turn-by-turn voice guidance for 74 countries in 46 languages, and traffic information for over 10 countries, as well as detailed maps for over 180 countries.
“We want to make booking flights, accommodation and sharing your travel experiences as familiar as using your mobile for navigation. We believe that combining the number one travel recommendation site with the best online maps service will do just that,” explained Rupert Englander, Head of Services, Nokia UK.
Trip Advisor alone makes up the most popular and largest travel community in the world, with more than 35 million unique monthly visitors, 15 million members, and 35 million reviews and opinions. Featuring real advice from real travellers, Trip Advisor sites cover more than one million destinations, hotels, restaurants and attractions.
