Apple has reportedly increased its order volumes for its iPhone range for the second half of this year by some 12-13 percent, from 50 million units to at least 56 million unites.
Citing Taiwan base component suppliers, DigiTimes reported that he forthcoming iPhone 5 will represent nearly half the total – at around 25.5-26 million units.
Although overall iPhone sales are higher, the shipment forecast for the iPhone 5 has been lowered from 7 million to just under 6 million units, possibly reflecting the much rumoured later than originally planned launch date.
Correspondingly, orders for the existing iPhone 4 have been raised to over 20 million units.
Total shipments of the iPhones in 2011 will reach 95 million units, the sources added.
