Android tablet in China first, UK to follow in 2012

DELLl has indeed decided to launch the Dell Streak 10 Pro in China, which presumably still means 2012 for us in the UK.

But at least now we know what to expect when it does belatedly land on these shores. According to Engadget, the launch meant we could confirm the specification for Dell’s 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablet. It’s pretty much what you might expect for a tablet in 2011, with a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 1,280×800 LCD display (with Gorilla Glass), a five-megapixel camera for shots, a two-megapixel camera for networking and SDHC card expansion.

It’s initially being offered in China as a 16GB Wi-Fi tablet, which comes with 2GB of cloud storage. Accessories will also be offered, including a desktop dock and a multi-purpose dongle with HDMI-out, micro-USB, and an extra 40-pin connector, for extra cash. The pricing is irrelevant over there, as there’s no way to compare what the tablet will sell for here.

We would guess around the £400 mark, which seems to be the ‘go-to’ price for tablets in the UK. Saying that, Dell might have to drop below that when it does finally launch here – six months is a long time in the tablet world, long enough for the Dell Streak 10 Pro to be playing catch-up with the market.
