Etihad Airways, the national airline of theUnited Arab Emirates, has appointed Amer Khan – its current Country Manager inPakistan– to the position of Area General Manager for Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
In his new position, Mr. Khan will be responsible for managing Etihad’s commercial operations across these three countries from his base in Karachi.
Mr. Khan has over 12 years’ experience in the travel industry. He began his career with South African Airways from where he moved to America Airline and served as their Regional Manager for the Middle East and Pakistan for eight years. He moved to Etihad Airways in 2009 as Country Manager in Pakistan to oversee operations in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. His career also includes periods working in the automotive and fast moving consumer goods industries.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Amer has been extremely proactive in his role as the head of our Pakistan operations. His extensive commercial experience in the region and his excellent reputation in the market makes him ideal for this role.”
Etihad Airways currently operates 23 flights a week between Abu Dhabi and four Pakistani cities with daily flights to Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore and two services a week to Peshawar.
