Grameenphone has announced the appointment of Mr. Tore Johnsen as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Johnsen will succeed Oddvar Hesjedal, who has completed his tenure in Grameenphone, and take up his position from March 1st 2011. Oddvar Hesjedal will move on to new responsibilities in Telenor Group.

His vast knowledge from the telecom industry, combined with his extensive experience from several Asian markets will be a great benefit for the company. We are confident that Tore has the right qualifications for further developing Grameenphone’s position as the leading Bangladeshi mobile operator”, said Sigve Brekke, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grameenphone.
Tore Johnsen comes from the position as CEO of the Thai mobile operator, Dtac. Previous he has also held positions as CEO of Telenor Pakistan and CEO of DiGi in Malaysia. He joined the Telenor Group in 1974, and he has held a number of managerial positions and international assignments. Tore Johnsen holds a Master of Science in addition to studies in International Business Management.
